Museum Nord joins craftwork spring seminar

Organized by the Norwegian National Institute for Craft, the “Lifting the Craftwork” (Løfte håndverket) spring seminar took place on May 5, 2026, at Maihaugen in Lillehammer, Norway. The event focused on traditional crafts for children and youth, gathering approximately 180 attendees to discuss strategies for introducing practical learning to future generations.
Audun Eckhoff, CEO of the Lillehammer Museum Foundation, opened the seminar by emphasizing the necessity of early craft education to address future challenges in cultural heritage protection.
During the network’s information-sharing session, Jonas Walsøe, leader of the SKREI Research Center at CULTURALITY partner Museum Nord, provided updates on the upcoming SKREI center for fisheries and coastal culture. He presented the CULTURALITY project to the attendees, detailing its objective to elevate traditional crafts and creative tourism in rural areas, and invited artisans to join the project’s digital platform.
The next “Lifting the Craftwork” gathering will occur on September 24, 2026, at the Bryggens Museum in Bergen, Norway.
