University of Aveiro CULTURALITY #RuralEvent Postponed

UA.LABDESIGN 4.0 — Confluências / Confluences

CULTURALITY partner Universidade de Aveiro has postponed its rural event in the village of Múceres, Tondela, originally scheduled for July 6 to 12, 2026. Due to active wildfires in the region and the triggering of the Municipal Civil Protection Emergency Plan, the event will now take place from August 31 to September 6, 2026. The initiative occurs in close collaboration with the fourth edition of the territorial laboratory UA.LABDESIGN, which articulates pedagogical practice, research, and community involvement through immersion in real contexts and collaboration with local knowledge.

The laboratory is organized intensively over a week, structured around three main axes:

  • Situated practice workshops: Developed in Múceres in direct collaboration with local artisans, focusing on traditional techniques such as linen and weaving, ceramics, basketry, wood, and printing.
  • Community life: Integration of participants into daily local life through community meals and moments of sharing.
  • Territorial articulation: While Múceres functions as the central and permanent core, the event extends to other areas in the territory, namely Molelos for pottery and ceramics, and Nandufe for artisanal practices.

While the practical workshops take place from Monday to Friday, 31 August to 4 September, the weekend features a program open to the general public:
