The Ottomani series is based on the concept of recombining anonymous, everyday jars found at flea markets to create a unique vase with slender, elegant lines, harmonised through the handcrafted creation of handles and lids that redefine the shape of the piece, thus producing a striking vase inspired by Art Nouveau or Art Deco: the artist is fascinated by the early 20th century, a period in which the idea was gaining ground that everyday objects could be elevated to works of art, and in which craftsmanship and art came together to create marvels. Today, the challenge is to reclaim what has already been created and to give it new form using nothing but the imagination.
