CULTURALITY Partner ZRC-SAZU Hosts Round Table on Heritage of Handicrafts in Slovenia
On May 15, 2024, the Slovenian partner of the CULTURALITY project, ZRC-SAZU, held a round table discussion focused on the heritage of handicrafts, marking the closing of the Slovenian Handicrafts Triennial exhibition. The event brought together five key participants, including a craftsman/designer, the coordinator of crafts centers in Slovenia, the exhibition curator, and leaders of two projects focused on crafts: CULTURALITY and another project from the Interreg Danube program.
During the discussion, the CULTURALITY project was highlighted, with particular emphasis on what the project can offer to support craftspeople in remote rural areas. The project’s potential for enhancing the visibility, sustainability, and economic development of traditional crafts was explored, generating interest among the attendees.
The audience included a diverse group of craftspeople, designers, museum professionals, representatives from municipalities, managers of craft centers, and a member of the Chamber of Craft and Small Business of Slovenia responsible for handicraft development. This provided a rich environment for networking, which CULTURALITY members seized to raise awareness about the project and build connections for future collaborations.
The round table not only emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting Slovenian handicrafts but also served as a platform for the CULTURALITY project to engage with local key stakeholders.
