CULTURALITY Gathers in Viljandi, Estonia for Fourth Consortium Meeting
CULTURALITY partners assembled in Viljandi, Estonia, for the fourth Consortium Meeting, held between September 17th and 20th, 2025. This gathering marked another key milestone in the project’s journey, bringing together the international team to deepen collaboration and drive forward its mission.

Hosted by the University of Tartu CULTURALITY team, the meeting unfolded over four days, blending work sessions with cultural immersion. The formal proceedings included comprehensive presentations from all Work Packages, allowing partners to report on recent progress, outline upcoming tasks and deliverables, and discuss key challenges. A dedicated Steering Committee meeting was also held to ensure continued alignment on the project’s administrative and operational goals.

Beyond the meeting rooms, participants were treated to an inspiring cultural programme. This included a guided tour of the University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy‘s craft workshops, a visit to the workshops of the Bonifatius Guild (where the work meetings were also held), and an excursion into the surrounding region to meet woodworker Andres Ansper, lacemaker Riho Toomra, and textile artist Anu Raud, as well as to visit the Heimtali crafts museum. These experiences provided a direct connection to the living heritage and creative practices that CULTURALITY aims to support.

The meeting culminated with the partners’ participation in the IV Viljandi Repair Festival, an annual event promoting sustainability and repair culture. This unique event, which served as the Estonian #RuralEvent, allowed the consortium to engage directly with the local community and witness firsthand how tradition and innovation can intersect to create a more sustainable future. As CULTURALITY moves forward, the Viljandi meeting has reinforced the consortium’s shared commitment to fostering creative tourism and resilient rural development across Europe.
