Call for Papers – Res Mobilis Special Issue (2026)
Rural Space, Craftsmanship, and Cultural Tourism: Perspectives on Identity and Sustainability
CULTURALITY partner Universidad de Oviedo has published a Call for Papers for a Res Mobilis special issue on CULTURALITY related themes:
We aim to bring together research that explores how craft practices, design, and spatial arrangements contribute to meaningful cultural experiences, both in heritage environments and in innovative tourism initiatives. The issue is open to historical, theoretical, curatorial, and applied studies, with particular interest in those that examine the relationship between craft, space, and tourism from a sustainability perspective.
Contributions may address, among others, the following thematic axes:
- Craftsmanship as a narrative element in heritage and tourism spaces
- Traditional knowledge and craft in the cultural activation of territories
- Interior design and identity-driven scenographies in museography or touristic contexts
- Craft heritage and its contemporary reinterpretation
- Cultural tourism and sensory experiences linked to craftsmanship
- Co-creation processes between artisans, designers, and local communities
- Studies on domesticity, ceremony, and memory through crafted objects
- New museographies and mediation strategies based on craft expressions
- Theoretical frameworks for analysing space as a cultural construct
- Sustainability approaches in craft design
The journal welcomes contributions from various disciplines, including art history, anthropology, design, architecture, economics, cultural studies, tourism, and heritage, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue.
