The RingoRango backpack was born from the idea of Asturian clothing, simplifying the concept of identity to the maximum. With just two elements, the coloured sashes of the men’s costume and the velvet ribbons that adorn the women’s costumes, it perfectly evokes the idea of folklore and tradition. It is an accessory for everyday use, but one that recalls special festive days when traditional costumes take to the streets. The design of this backpack simplifies a concept as dense as folklore and summarises it in a minimalist but perfectly identifiable object.
In Culturality’s fieldwork research, this is an example of the direct use of regional costume in the creation of a derivative product, based strictly on the original elements of the costume. This represents a dual use of the craftsmanship involved in regional costume, expanding the market options for these products and a philosophy in line with the circular economy.
