News & events CULTURALITY Partner ZRC-SAZU Hosts Round Table on Heritage of Handicrafts in Slovenia On May 15, 2024, the Slovenian partner of the CULTURALITY project, ZRC-SAZU, held a round table discussion focused on the heritage of handicrafts, marking the closing of the Slovenian Handicrafts Triennial exhibition. The event brought together five key participants, including a craftsman/designer, the coordinator of crafts centers in Slovenia, the exhibition curator, and leaders of two projects focused on crafts: CULTURALITY and another project from the Interreg Danube program.During the discussion, the CULTURALITY project was highlighted, with particular emphasis on what the project can offer to support craftspeople in remote rural areas. The project’s potential for enhancing the visibility, sustainability, and economic development of traditional crafts was explored, generating interest among the attendees.The audience included a diverse group of craftspeople, designers, museum professionals, representatives from municipalities, managers of craft centers, and a member of the Chamber of Craft and Small Business of Slovenia responsible for handicraft development. This provided a rich environment for networking, which CULTURALITY members seized to raise awareness about the project and build connections for future collaborations. The round table not only emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting Slovenian handicrafts but also served as a platform for the CULTURALITY project to engage with local key stakeholders. News & events CULTURALITY Represented in Hephaestus Clustering Event in Gothenburg Ana María and Llara Fuente, from Oveido Univeraity and members of the CULTURALITY project, participated in a clustering event organized by Hephaestus [a project coordinated by Marta Gasparin], in Gothenburg from May 2 to 4, 2024. This event offered the opportunity for various European projects to exchange knowledge and strengthen partnerships, particularly in crafts and cultural heritage. Hephaestus was identified as a key partner for CULTURALITY, with both projects encouraged to build stronger ties. During their time in Gothenburg, Ana María and Llara Fuente engaged with other participants, fostering connections that will benefit CULTURALITY. Their participation was an important step in expanding the network of CULTURALITY and learning from the expertise of other projects, advancing its mission to preserve and promote rural cultural heritage. The exhibition highlighted the crucial role of women in these practices and the growing focus on sustainability in rural communities. Creators & Keepers wove together these themes, showcasing the preservation and evolution of cultural heritage, while honoring the contributions of women artisans to sustainable rural development. News & events Kickoff Meeting for CULTURALITY Project Held at the University of Oviedo From April 8 to 12, 2024, the University of Oviedo hosted the kickoff meeting of the CULTURALITY project. This event marked an important milestone, officially launching the initiative focused on promoting creative tourism and preserving cultural heritage in rural areas.
