Maramureș County Council is a county level public administration authority. Administratively speaking, the territory of Romania is divided into 42 counties, including the capital city – Bucharest. The role of Maramureș County Council is to coordinate the activity of the 76 local councils of Maramureș County (2 municipalities, 11 towns and 63 communes), in order to accomplish the public services of county interest. It has a 360° range of activity at county level making sure that all public services related to the following topics are provided for: education, social services, health, culture, youth, sports, public order, natural disasters, environment, protection of historical buildings and architecture, population records, public roads, public utilities, tourism, rural development, economic development and other public services, according the law. Additionally, the Maramureș County Council coordinates a series of subordinated institutions amongst which cultural institutions such as the Maramureș County Museum of History and Archaeology, the County Museum of Ethnography and Folklore Art Maramureș, The County Museum of Art – Baia Mare Artistic Centre, Baia Mare Mineralogical Museum, Baia Mare Astronomy Science Museum, Maramureș County Library, Baia Mare Folk Art School, the Nord Literary Magazine and the Maramureș County Organisation for Touristic Destination. Maramureș is a unique location placed in the geographical heart of Europe, land of wooden churches, mythological richness, impressive landscapes and millenary history. Its legacy courses through generations which carefully preserve the culture, traditions, and lifestyle of their immemorial rural past. With more than 600 historical buildings/monuments and a UNESCO serial comprising 8 wooden churches, the local cultural heritage of Maramureș proudly emerges as a deeply spiritual place and simultaneously a mythical time capsule.

Noemi Ganea
Noemi is the Executive Director of the Financing, Tourism and Public Relations Department of Maramureș County Council. She holds a vast expertize, with over a decade of professional experience in building interinstitutional bridges between the County Council and regional, governmental, and non-governmental bodies, both nationally and internationally. She is specialized in international relations, EU funding, European legislation and SME development. Noemi has strong coordination and project management skills, sound work ethic and cultural mediation abilities. She is eager to leverage her skills and expertise to positively input the project’s bold endeavours.
Roxana-Talida Roman
Talida is an innovative, hardworking and skilled researcher, bringing demonstrated success in research of human past, conflict archaeology, memory studies, cultural heritage assessment and identification. She has expertise in planning and leading long-term studies of heritage sites, identification of material culture through hands-on research and exploration of immaterial valences of places of remembrance and heritage. Her work is characterised by interdisciplinary approach to research combined with methodical attitude towards data collecting and reviewing. Talida sees cultural heritage as an antidote to violence, conflicts and social development issues due to its ability to advance the promotion of knowledge, mutual celebration of diversity and cultural pluralism.
Marius Mureșan
As Chief of the Tourism Office of the County Council of Maramureș Marius is responsible for planning, designing and managing cultural and tourism local/regional events and festivals. He believes that being passionate about Maramureș culture, traditions and customs is a key ingredient in the success of the organized events. His role involves collaborating with various steakholders such as: cultural institutions, crafters, traditional folk ensembles and public authorities. Always looking for new challenges and opportunities, Marius is excited to be part of this team in view of developing new and better ways to promote the remote rural areas of Maramureș.
Mihaiela Florina Muntean
Mihaiela works as a counsellor in the Financing, Tourism and Public Relations Department of the Maramureș County Council, mostly engaged with financing projects in the field of culture, health, social services, sport, cults and management of associative structures. She is specialized in the field of cultural management, equal opportunities and gender issues. She collaborates with cultural stakeholders especially in relation to scientific, educational and artistic initiatives. Mihaiela is excited to be part of this team in view of developing exciting new approaches to rural development by means of cultural tourism.
Cristina Barbul
Cristina is a dedicated professional with a wealth of experience in public administration and expertise in financial management as well as project implementation. Cristina’s journey in public administration began in September 1997 when she joined the Maramureș County Council as a Specialist Inspector in the Trade and Tourism Service, where she actively contributed to the development of tourism databases, represented Maramureș County at tourism fairs, and played a key role in evaluating and classifying accommodation associations and structures. She is specialized in financial management, public procurement and project management, expertise which combined with her dedication and commitment makes her a valuable asset to this project.
